JOAN SERRA MINGOT
Two Spanish comedies and a Spanish-Canadian drama hit the cinemas this week:
KAMIKAZE
On the one hand , Kamikaze tells the story of Slatan, a man of Karadjistan whose plans go away when his flight from Madrid to Moscow is canceled by a snowstorm and passengers are relocated in a hotel in the mountains. During those three days, Slatan discover the power of love and friendship. A humorous story about hope, enthusiasm and zest for life.
2 FRANCOS , 40 PESETAS
In 2 francs 40 pesetas, the christening of the second child of Marcos, get in Switzerland two friends together, after six years of separation. The reunion with Hanna alives in Martin the flame of desire. His son, Paul, lives new experiences in a hippie commune on the outskirts of the village where he grew up. Everything rushes hopelessly toward the ceremony day; grandmothers arriving from Spain unexpectedly, children who present with their Swiss brides, priests singing flamenco, a Spanish banker who tries to evade money in Switzerland... The peaceful harmony of the small Swiss village is in danger with the new invasion of these Spaniards who are not immigrants anymore.
ENEMY
And finally you have Enemy, an experimental drama starring American actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Adam ( Gyllenhaal ) is an affable professor with a humdrum life. One day, watching a movie, he finds an actor who is identical to him. Finding that person will bring unexpected consequences. Enemy is a very free adaptation of José Saramago's novel The Double.
