The most important event of the audio-visual market, which is taking place in Cannes from April 7th to April 10th, is the new way to promote the Spanish production all over the world, which is located among the top five countries that export series and entertainment formats, according to the study "The Wit Guide to Scripted Formats 2014". Thus, Spain shares this privileged position with American, British, French, Dutch and Italian markets.
This report highlights that Spanish fiction is one of the most sought after types of programming for both broadcasting the original format or adapting locally around the world. For example, there have already been a number of adaptations produced globally that are based on Spanish scripted formats. This includes The Boat, distributed by Imagina International Sales, which debuted its Russia adaptation last January. The Boomerang TV series The Mysteries of Laura also has four adaptations, including a pilot in the U.S. Besides, the Filmax drama Red Bracelets has an Italian version. The Boomerang TV serial The Secret of Old Bridge has been sold to a host of countries as well.
Moreover, this year many successful Spanish series such as Velvet, The Prince and Elizabeth have landed in Cannes, together with programs like Together and Imprisoned, and the documentary filmed in ultra high definition The Passion of the Prado.
