The Spanish League is the one with more canteranos and less foreigners among the five major European championships, according to a report by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES).
22.75% of the Spanish League players have been trained in the club, compared to 18.67% of the French League, 16.93% of the German one, 12.23% of the British one and 7.18% of the Italian one. In addition, La Liga is the one with less number of foreigners (42.33%), in comparison with the leagues of France (43.17%), Italy (56.97%), Germany (61.3%) and the UK (74.18%). Spanish players usually don’t want to leave home and are therefore the least likely to go abroad, after French players.
This report has also revealed that the Italian league is the one with a higher average age, 27.44 years compared to 27.02 years of the Spanish and the British leagues. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga championship is the youngest, with an average of 25.7 years, compared to 26.4 years of the French championship. You have to go to Germany too in order to find the highest average height (189.44 cm), ahead of the UK (182,68 cm) and Italy (182,24 cm). Spain has the lowest average height with 180.59 cm, compared to 180.99 cm in France.
