Fallas, the only Spanish candidate to be Heritage of Humanity

 

The Valencian festival will represent Spain in 2015. The Town Hall must send all the data to the Spanish Government before March the 25th

The Fallas will be the only Spanish candidate with a chance to becoming Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2015. The Ministry of Culture has communicate this fact to Valencia’s Town Hall, which now must collect all the information needed and send it to the Spanish Government before March 25th , since the deadline to submit all the data of the candidature to the UNESCO expires on March 31st, has explained the Festival councilor , Francisco Lledó.

 

Later, once the expedient is completed, the Ministery of Culture will send it to the UNESCO before March the 31st to make the 2015 candidature official.It is still unknown the amount of licenses that the UNESCO will give to be recognized as Heritage of Humanity. The Fallera Major of Valencia in 2014, Carmen Sancho, mentioned in her speech in the so called Cridà that the Fallas should be recognized as Heritage of Humanity.

 

The Spanish candidate of 2014 are the tamborradas, which have been celebrated for more than six centuries in seventeen towns of Spain, such as Hellín, Calanda, Alcañiz, Baena, Moratalla or Alzira.
