Two films "made in Spain" and for all tastes are released this weekend on the big screen. On the one hand, we have the comedy whose trailer we have endlessly watched on TV for three months: Ocho apellidos vascos (Eight Basque Surnames). The film tells the adventures of an Andalusian guy, Rafa, who decides to seduce a Basque girl (Amaia) he has met in his native Seville, so he go to the a little village in Euskadi. But as if going to the north was not enough, Rafa will pretend to be from the Basque Country. Emilio Martinez-Lazaro directs Clara Lago, Dani Rovira, Karra Elejalde and Carmen Machi in this comedy about topics and cultural prejudices.
On the other hand, Las maestras de la República (Teachers of the Republic) is a documentary about those women who fought for women's rights and take part in the modernization of education, basis of democratic and public school. Pilar Pérez Solano recreates the life of a teacher of that time and adds unpublished images in order to show us the legacy the Republican teachers have left.
